“'Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.' . . . And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground." - Luke 22:42-44
The tendency we all have is treating God like our Cosmic Santa Claus, but prayer is more than bringing God our laundry lists of wants! When we meet to pray, who God is will guide what we do. Before asking God and naming our needs - which he does want to meet! - we hope to adore God for who he is, confess all the ways we offend him, and then give him thanks for his unending mercy and grace. This viewpoint transforms our view of God and how we approach him! Join us for prayer and enter into communion with God alongside us!
Prayer is also one practical way we share our burdens. Every Sunday during worship we openly share our prayer requests and needs, to be prayed for throughout the following week. This is an important aspect of our community - in the security of Christ, voicing openly our joys and tears, our needs and hurts. This aspect unites us in our need and our comfort in Christ.
Email Chip if you'd like to have a request added to the week's rotation, with or without your name, or would like it prayed for simply by pastoral staff.
